Tywanna Jones

Evangelist Tywanna Jones gave her life to Christ at fifteen years of age at Morning Star Church in Linden New Jersey, under the pastorate of the late Bishop Irving Evans.  She graduated from Linden High School and attended Middlesex County College.  She moved to Denver Colorado to continue her education.

Manning Perkins was installed.  She serves as an Associate Minister at this ministry, Sunday School teacher for over 16 years, Wednesday Pray Meeting and Bible Studies leader.  She actively participated in the Women’s Department, Family Life Ministries and Young Adults Department (where she meet her husband), and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir until January 2000 after the birth of their second daughter.  She served as Audio Ministry Coordinator, Announcement Clerk, Nursery Coordinator, Youth Counselor, and Deaconess until called to preach. She has preached at Conferences, Praise-A-thons, Revivals and served as Mistress of Ceremony for various other programs.

On December 4, 2002, she was licensed to preach and delivered her first sermon from the pulpit, “Giving In the Presence of God”.  On Good Friday, April 14, 2006 she was ordained to the office of Evangelist.  In May 2004, she became an alumnus of the Future Black Women of Colorado Leadership and Training program under the direction of Honorable Senator Gloria T. Tanner.  She has served as Assistant to the Secretary of the Western States Baptist Convention (2004-2006); she is a member of the Denver and Colorado Alliance of Minister Wives and Minister Widows (2007) and Global Change Network (2006).  A former member of Women of the Promise dance/praise team (2006-2007).   She serves on the board of directors for You Can Begin Again (2008), Colorado Family Services (2011) and served on Omar D. Blair Charter School board of directors (2008-2010).

Evangelist Jones has earned a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, Summa Cum Laude, Kaplan University and a member of the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society.  She is currently completing the Masters of Public Administration, emphasis domestic violence studies at the University of Colorado Denver.  Evangelist Jones employed with Adams County District Attorney’s Office as a Victim/Witness advocate.  Her ministry is to speak for the voice of those forgotten and distressed, Proverbs 31:8, 9.

She is married to Rev. Frank A. Jones, Assistant Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.  They have enjoyed matrimony for over sixteen years and have five children: Tabitha, Talitha, Tobias, Timothy, and Theophilus. Together they served as foster parents for over eight years.

One of her favorite scriptures is Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  What an incredible act of love, when we were God’s foe; but God reached out to us to be our friend, to bridge an eternal gap!  For that, she is eternally grateful.
